Everleaf Emerald Tower is the first basil bred for season-long performance offering continuous harvest potential. It flowers up to 8 weeks later than standard Genovese type basil and is resistant to Downy Mildew and Fusarium. This basil with dark green lush leaves is fast-growing and has a tidy plant habit for containers, boxes or in-ground garden beds. Because of it’s columnar growing habit, it can be used as a showpiece or “thriller” for a herb planter or mixed combination planter. Attracts pollinators and beneficial insects. Deer and rabbit resistant.
Harvest continually and pinch off flowers to encourage leaf growth. Fresh basil is much tastier and better for you than dried basil. However, basil can be preserved by drying or freezing. Emerald Tower is flavourful and aromatic – mild hints of anise with a faint mint aftertaste. It pairs well with tomatoes and is popular in pesto, salads, pizza, bruschetta or blend with vinegar in French dressing or in poultry stuffing.
