RADICCHIO, Sirio

Leaves are slightly bitter like endive, but sweeten slightly with cooler day temperatures. Best suited for spring and early fall plantings but performs well in summer. It starts off light red in spring and then colour darkens during the summer. The heads are small and round with a uniform maturity. It is perfect for salads with its beautiful red colour and contrasting white ribs and veining. Heads weigh about 10 ounces (283 grams).
